Arapaima Pond Build

Wow...that pump packs some...
As mentioned, connected a long hose, lowered it directly into the holding tank, started pumping...
In about 10 minutes, I had 5 centimeters of water in. Stopped, because the holding-tank was almost empty...
But sure will save some time and electricity...

So now, lunch first, then start with the connection for the skimmer.
Airpump works beautiful with the diffuser. Will make the next one tomorrow, then go skinny-dipping into the pond next week to screw it on top of the 2nd dome.

With luck, I might be able to get the pump running on 1 settling tank very soon.
Still need to get about 40cm of water for that, might not be enough time today...lets see.

Pictures...not too much done, had some small setbacks.. We drained the pond a bit into the settling tanks.
Pulled the liner up and pored some extra sand in some spots.
After that, extra big-bags under it, then the under-liner and the top liner again.
Much more smooth now, makes for easier sleeping...lol
Now pumping again...

Tried the pump in the first settling tank.
Bottom drain nicely pulling all rubbish down.
Vortex starts almost immediately, so it's working...
With more water on top, pressure will build some more making for more vortex and rubbish being pulled out.
Then start the second tank and we're really talking..

Fantastic!

Fantastic!

Thanks...loving it as well. Tomorrow afternoon back at work. See how it holds up.
Waiting most of the week, only some filling up I guess.
Then Saturday do the skimmer first and start the pump on 1 side continuously.

Let it run for a week and see if all works ok.
Maybe buy a couple of bags with feeders, just to see how the do.
Get fences up and the saturday after, big move..

so....who's going to be first to swim with Mr. T?

so....who's going to be first to swim with Mr. T?

Don't think I have volunteers and getting him in a new bright environment I don't think it's a good idea. Might spook him into jumping which I really want to avoid.
The joy of being able to see him swim and scout his new home should be enough for now...
Might try the pond next Saturday for a swim when I put in the diffuser though...lol

Every time I look at this thread I get jealous of Mr. T for getting such an awesome home lol. If there are any caring deities up there, one of them had an eye on him.

Must be..lol
you seen the cross in the previous pictures did you?
Today water ok, no leaking and filled it to the level that I think I can leave the first pump on 24/7. Will try couple of hours tomorrow and fill some more.

Will hit level of the side and back soon, so after that will need to fill up the walls some more to get above the max filling level before getting maxed out. Want to get the water almost level with the top of the front wall.
