Are anemones really that hard to keep?

I have a question about How to siphone the tank with all the live rocks in it with anemone and corals. What is the best way?
I have 55g with 50 lb live rocks.

Siphon, as in to remove water for a change? Or to remove detritus?

Either way--a chunk of tube long enough to allow you some moving room and reach a drain or a bucket. Fill the tube up with water, cover both end, submerge one end in the tank and the other in the drain or bucket, and uncover the ends. Use the tip to gentle clean low flow areas--hovering just above the area is usually sufficient to pick up detritus without sucking up a bunch of sand. I use .5 ID tubing.

about the apista, does anyone know the apprxamaite size one can get to ?also what does a glass anemone look like? last week I purchased 5 pounds of live rock for my 30 and there was five of them on the two larger rocks. one of them was a brownish colour and had white spots on the tentecles(sort of like ick) the other four looked sort of like pink tips and are white all over. What are these anemones?

The brown one with white spots does sound like an Aiptasia, in terms of size in favorable conditions an Aiptasia can get to be 4" tall, and using chemicals often cant completly solve the problem, as even a small piece can survive and regenerate into a complete animal. However Aiptasia has a sting thats more toxic then most Corals people keep in aquariums, so if you have an Corals or fish its best to tackle the problem if it is Aiptasia.

Right now im'e just finishing cycling the tank (have no fish or corals).I'll most likely trie that kalkwrasser paste method.Thanks. but does anyone know what those white ones are?

Summer,
Yep, I heard you can use a hypodermic needle and inject the kalkwasser deep into the center of the "mouth" to kill them with out causing spreading.

FragMaster,
Just joined the forum today. I appreciated your surgical skill and wit in answering the anenome dilema. I can't believe some of them got upset (thin skinned, I guess) in your blunt but concise explanation. Looking forward to your next.

Yeah apiasta are a pain in the bum, i got a few of they in my 40 gal, , i have tried the other methods of joes juice etc, it is impossible to wipe these criters out. the best method is using nature i reccomend the copper banded butterfly or some shrimp also do the job. they are really annoying and pretty much all LR comes with atleast 1 apiasta.

THank you reefer Madness.

FYI in order to raise ph in your reef when using lemon juice to inject and kill aptasia you would have to litteraly add a half a cup or so in there straight to the tank in any thin gunder 10g. ;)
