I had two large black angelfish and one died so I bought a young one, which is white. They're not schooling together and I've had them for like three weeks now.

Will they not school with ones that aren't the same color? I don't have room in the tank for two sets of angel fish, two black and two white, but I don't want to have to bring the little guy back to exchange for a black one.

it can take a while for em to school, give it some more time.

Actually, it's a little known fact that angelfish are the bigots of the Amazon. Seriously though, I've notices that sometimes large angels will completely ignore others that are significantly smaller than them. It may help to add a couple more if you have the room. In that case, at least the smaller ones will stick together.

I'd replace your black angels with hardier strains such as gold (which in your case you are referring to as white). Black angels are harder to keep than most strains which could explain your failure to keep one alive. Gold, marble, koi and zebra are your best bets.

I have 9 angels in my tank. Surprisingly, they have formed a number of pairs - 2 pairs of black lace superveils, 1 pair of german blue veils, 1 pair of marble regular fins and a lone standard angel with exquisite finnage. I never thought they would pair off this way but ...
