Thanks Lupin. i have them in a tank together about 2 hours ago. I added the fancy. the mosquito was already there. Ill probably seperate them now. It seems the little mosquito males are doing all the chasing. thanks again
no. most mosquito fish are gambusia. these females will tear your guppies apart. gambusia can survive in an african tank. they are tough little devils.
Yeah, keep them apart. Gambusia are notorious nippers and can harrass to death fish that are larger than they (I've even heard of this happening with young gar who were given gambusia as feeders).
Just a couple months ago my favorite guppy lost half his tail to a mosquitofish (gambusia holbrooki, which have the same temperament but smaller size than g. affinis), that jumped a divider.
