Are Maxi Jets submirsible ?

Went to LFS today & they had a bunch of used hardware 4 sale.
I bought a used Maxi Jet 1000 for $5.00.

got it running in bucket now w/ fresh tap water to flush it out.
Works really good (powerful)
I was just wondering if this thing was submersible? Didn't think about it @ LFS.

Also, anyone know what a 1000 liters would be in gallons?

I'm not sure if the Maxi-Jet 1000 is submersible, but I do know that 1 Liter = 0.2639 Gallons. So 1000 Liters = 263.9 Gallons.

Would that be too much flow for 29 gallon tank?

I would say no. People have said to have water movement about 10 times the size of your tank. So you would need around 290 gph, which is close to what that pump puts out max.

Maxi-Jet powerheads are submersible, but I've never heard of a Maxi-Jet 1000. Are you sure it isn't a Maxi-Jet 1200?

MJ1000 is the slightly smaller version of the MJ1200, I dont believe they are still made BTW.

It is submersible, just like all powerheads.
