Are my guppies pregnant?

She won't eat them for a day or two, she wont have the energy. lol. Iv'e just got a load of platy fry. The young were swimming right in front of mom. She just ignored them.

I would move your females to the 3G ASAP. They can then get used to the new environment.

This is probably a stupidquestion, but will the mother not eat her fry?

Some of the resources ive read say that the mothers can be cannabalistic hence why i put in the ferns and grass. This will allow the fry to hide from mom when she gets hungry.

jyanagi... no prob on the guppy fry. However, I'm gonna wait another day or so and not only to see if the gravid spots grow larger but also to give the 3g filters a chance to get seeded in my 46g.

Even if the mom is not cannabalistic, the fry will enjoy the ferns and the grass. You'll see most of them hiding in it (and probably in the corners at the top of the tank) especially for the first few days. Without predators, they'll comfortably swim the tank within a week. With predators, they'll mostly hang in it except during feeding time.

I'd probably also float something - I let a fake plant float at the top. Mine preferred hanging at the top than the bottom, although they did both.

Good plan on the waiting just a day or so. Enjoy it... it's exciting!

That good addvice. Really you just ever know who may or may not get eatten, or who will do the eatting.

some will eat their fry, casue they dont eat a few days before giving birth and then she will be so hungry they will come out and she will eat them as the come out

You should remove the females once they have dropped.
