Nitrites are 0? I believe that earlier today I answered another thread started by you where you stated that your nitrites were 5.0? Now they are magically 0?
My Snails woudl do this under high stress, I actualy thew one out that was likely still alive...Poor guy.
What I learend is they need a PH above 7. If you have a low PH it will likely die. Also make sure you have warm water about 78 deg and plenty of calcium. Put some crushed coral in your filter as a PH / Calcium buffer.
Probably not, it seems the more water I run throuh the crushed coral the better it works. My PH wen rom 7 to 7.2+ when I put the bag in my Fluval, course I also added more crushed coral (filled 1/2 compartment in my 204) for a 20 gallon tank.
i once had a snail that seemed to diisapear overnight. I looked inside the shell and could see nothing- but it could of been hiding further up where my eyes couldn't see. Anyways, i chucked it in to the compost heap. My best bet was that it was gobbled up by the two rather large goldfish!!

i have 4 tanks in my house and the snails are in a tank that has goldfish that have been established for quite some time. year or so. i added that snail about a few weeks ago and they are doing quite well.
i had a snail and after a few days, it quit moving, every few days, it would wind up in a different place, then, i picked it up and a lot of real smelly crap fell out of the shell and into my tank, seeing no snail inside, i threw it out.
my uncle had a snail for a few months, but when it laid huge eggsacs, he put them in the freezer to kill them, not wanting any more snails. the snail then threw itself into a fit of anguish and committed suicide by stretching its body out of its shell by climbing up the intake.(on its second attempt at this method of suicide.)
