Are there any Cichlids that can live fine in a 20gal or 15gal tank?

keyholes, bolivian rams, german blue rams are also some of the south american candidates. i would consider these over shell dwellers myself.
i kept keyholes for years in a 20 high and they got very big (5"). they top off at 3-4" supposedley, although some websites mistakenley suggest they grow to 6-8"...

Shocked nobody has mentioned Kribies. I've bred them in a 10 gal.

Apisto's. GBR's were once thought to be Apistos. Cacatoides comes in a wide range of color.

A pair of borellis would do very well in the 20g.
