Are There Any 'Nicer' Ways To Kill Blue Crabs?

Well that pretty much says it.
I HATE when my mom cooks crabs, you can hear then trying to get out of the steaming pot for at least a 45 seconds.
Does Clove Oil work with salt water inverts? and it wouldn't harm humans, would it?
any ideas would be helpful..
I wish they could make noise, alot less people would cook them.

We always steamed them when we lived in Maine (lobsters that is). I do know you want to avoid letting them just die and then cooking because of the toxin they have. However, this is a humane way of handling it:
