Are there any problems specific to albino plecos?

none that i know of, but that said - what type of albino pleco? there's more than one.

Commons get to be 18 inches and will need a 200 gallon tank to live properly. If you have something less than that, it's better if you get a Bristle Nose Pleco.

yeah make sure you can keep them
i have heard though that most albinos are a little weaker than the normal ones but not by much

I don't believe that there is any proof to albinos being any weaker than regular color variants...at least not in my experience.

Anyways, the adult size of 'common' plecos depends on which exact species you are referring to. Some only reach 8-10" while others can top 2 feet.

If you are interested in albinos, consider bristlenose. They max out at 4.5" - 5" and are very peaceful so would do well in most community tanks. I am breeding some and just had a spawn of over 40 babies from my pair. They are great tank cleaners! :) Good luck with your search!
