Ok, I have had my cherries for about a month now and have just purchased some 'Crysal Blues' shrimp. About the size of a larger Cherry shrimp and deep blue. They are very pretty.

I was just reading up on some shrimp on Petshrimp.com and it states that there are really no 'true blue' shrimp. That all 'blue' shrimp offered are dyed somehow (feeding?). One of my shrimp is berried and now I don't think the babies will be blue, will they? I guess it's ok, babies are cool, just would be REALLY nice if they're blue too.

Hmmm.

They look like the one on this page http://www.shrimpcrabsandcrayfish.co.uk/Shrimp.htm?Caridina.htm~mainFrame?

If so, from what I've read they're a "bee shrimp" and off spring will most likely be red or black. I'm not in the least "sure" of that though. I also think that they are capable of crossing with the cherries. Nice pickup at any rate. Pics would be cool (hint, hint). :)

Yup, they sure do, the Blue Shrimp pic.

They do hybridize so I'm keepinfg them in their own tank for now.

Here's a pic, just not a good one. Sorry.

Very cool! Good luck with them and please let us know what any offspring turn out like!

I recall a thread at petshrimp, not too long ago, about someone who kept blue shrimp that bred true. I guess you'll just have to wait and see what the babies look like though : )

I pose the question at Planet Inverts. Ryan informed me that the 'Ice Blue Shrimp' that he sells on his site are true blues. That they DO have blue babies. So I guess there are some true blues out there.

That is great to know. I do hope that mine have blue babies.

:)
