Are there "runts of the litter" in the fish world?

If you are going to line breed for size, be very careful: you may be inadvertantly breeding for other, less desirable traits or health problems. Happens very often with other animals so it shouldnt be different with fish. Also, its likely that any fry produced will be the same size as the parents, given the right amount of room. Just my 2 cents...

Here is what I have discovered. When you have a tank full of fry, the more agressive ones will out compete the weaker ones, which then become the runts. As I move fish to other tanks or ship out the bigger ones, the competition decreases and the runts mostly catch up.

That is exactly what I do... If allowed to go too long, they may not catch up...I swear the bigger ones get that way from eating their smaller sibs ....
