Are These Cories Dyed?

Well, just for kicks, I just pulled that picture, copied it into Photoshop, and with ONE click of a color balance slider, did this:



So, yeah, Photoshop is not out of the realm of possibility. Anybody want to buy a blue cory?

(I'm not saying that the original was in fact Photoshopped, I'm just presenting this to say that it's not hard. It could just as easily have been the lighting/camera used in the original picture. Mods, if this post is inappropriate, please delete!)

Someone in another forum has given quite the explanation about these cories. They can be found here or look for this post.

Greetings. These fish are not dyed. They are Corydoras sp CW009, which means they have not been given an official name by the scientific community. I currently keep 2 dozen of this specie and have recently spawned them for the first time. There is heated debate if they are related to C. aeneus, or are a separate specie. FYI - there is also an orange laser, a red laser and a gold laser. Unfortunately, that fact makes it harder for people to believe that they are not dyed fish. I assure you, they are a naturally occurring specie. Hope this helps. - Frank

There are "laser" varieties which are natural though that pic does look suspect...

the others look pretty fake though. youd be surprised what people will do to get $20 per corydoras instead of $3.

hi we have those they are flourecent green cories, and yes they come that bright green and theres an orange variety also... and yes $20 a piece. They are wild caught from peru i believe.
