these are definitely snail!!!

I think they're mystery/apple/canas snail eggs? I breed ramshorn snails and their eggs are much, much smaller than those. Common pond snail eggs are also small, and like ramshorns' are laid in a circular pattern in a jelly.

Apple/mystery snails make pink egg clumps which are above the water line. These clumps are about 1/2 - 1 inch in size, these are not apple/mystery snail eggs. MTS, have tiny live babies - they are TINY ice cream cone looking things. I have never seen the eggs of those super tiny ramshorns...and unfortunately I have lots of those so I think I would have noticed their eggs.

My 2 cents is that they are fish eggs. What was in the tank with the hornwort - rainbows? Hmm. Something which spawns on a mop... I'd hatch them and see. (But not in a tank I cared about!)

My thoughts exactly. However, It's been a week since I got the hornwort. How long does the incubation (or aquaria term) usually take. Scratch that, probably varies depending on species.... :thud:

the plants are kept in an isolated tanks at the LFS where i got these. Think he said he had them a week prior. The've gotten larger since then.

The reason I thought snails because they have been appearing after the hornwort arrived. Or can the hitch hike on fish?

Anyway, I'll hatch them in my q-tank and see. Will keep you posted. Any special hatching stats I should know about?

Thanks

I had the same thing on my hornwart, which I've had for a month, and no snails. I don't think it is related to snails--perhaps part of the plant?

ooh, good one guys! You got me, too, because I really thought they were snail eggs (I've never kept mystery snails myself). I also forgot that MTS's are livebearers, but they are just like the Batillaria - Asian mud snail I wrote a paper on. Sorry to get off-topic momentarily, but Bobnova, your male white cloud is very handsome. If I were a girly, I'd be impressed :)
