Are they really yellow labs?

don't forget the vertical eye-bar in males.

for some reason most of my fry so far have been male; i shrug and let them grow up; i've returned three males to my LFS already though. who knows.
 
As KB have already mentioned, it's pretty hard to determine the sex visually (without and sometimes even with observing their behavior), female labs can be just as dark around the fins and have eggspots, some can also be as aggressive as a male. Venting when they're mature would probably be the best way.

This is totally true, I would not put too much faith in determining their sexes by eggspots. I wish it were that easy. I have a female holding at present that has an eggspot and the dominant male in my tank does not.:werd:
