I know this sounds silly...but I am putting Christmas decor on my tanks. If I could buy some tacky aquarium safe decorations, I guess I would do the inside of the tanks too. Well, not on my 75 but I would on the 40 gallon in my daughters room Her tank is terrifically tacky (see avatar)

Do you intend to do your tanks??? If so...share your pics.

Here is my 75 gallon..simple but all I could think of at the time

Oh yeah...please tell me what you think of the aquascaping on this tank and what you feel would make it look better ( I can handle your honest opinions). It has mostly artificial plants but there are a few live. The more natural the better.

Nice aquarium. :) Maybe you could string some Christmas lights over it to give it a more 'holiday' feel. Lol.

I really like that piece of wood in the middle. Maybe you could add some real plants, as real plants add a touch of softness and life that fake plants can't emulate. One or two hardy plants will make the tank look better. Java fern and anubias is practically impossible to kill, and they don't require much light. Whatever lighting system you have will be fine. Also, you could fill the tank with a little bit more water. :)

I have some aponogeton in there now but it's still small. I have been looking for java fern but not finding any locally. Perhaps mail order is the option.

I love the ideal of a string of lights. LOL...would be cute.

BTW...the tank is filled to the brim. It's just that sheer ribbon that may make it look like it isn't.

Thanks for the great ideals...yep...a strand of lights is just what I may do!

I like the idea of decorating it for the hollidays. A strand of lights would be a good idea.

As for the aquascape, it looks really good. The only thing i can think of is to move that piece of wood a bit to the left. In painting/photography, there is whats called the rule of thirds. if you draw two lines vertically on the tank, you devide it into thirds. Now you draw another 2 lines horrizontally and devide it into thirds that way (thus giving you 9 equal size "boxes") The point where the lines intersect is your focal point. If you use the method above, you end up with 4 different "focal points" but you should only have one. It will be 1/3 from the top/bottom, and 1/3 from the left/right. From my eye, it seems the piece draws a focus about 1/3 from the top of the tank(this is good) If you move it a bit to one side or the other it will have a more apealing look to it. The reason I suguest to the left is because of the smaller structure there, it will be easier to move than the larger cave to the right. Like I said, it looks darn good as it is, especially the "flow" of larger plants in back, and the smaller ones up front. I may even steal your cue of those little ones in the left front corner. A small detail that does a lot for the looks.

The look on your parrots face is priceless...Sort of like the Mr. Bill "Oh NO"!

I know..the poor little mutant. It's permanently glued on his face. He isn't a fish I would choose because of his "muttness", but we love him anyways. He was a "gift" to my daughter after the tank cycled. I have adamantly requested no further gifts from ANY family member. I have two ducks who believe they are chickens and live in the coop because my mother thought the kids needed ducklings for easter. :duh: :duh: :duh:

I never thought of decorating tanks for Christmas...and I just bopught that same ribbon yesterday on sale at Joanns!
