Argentine Sword - aquatic or not?

i have a similar plant, the leaves look very similar and i found them to be non aquatic, the dying ones have been trimmed to allow the aquatic leaves to grow through
It has been in the tank for over a week and I do see couple of smaller leaves browning but that started in the store already (their tips were starting to die).
did the new leaves grow tall also?

the new leaves have only just started to grow for me, but they are growing
trim any and all of the leaves with brown tips or spots immediately you see them, this will encourage the truly aqautic leaves to grow quickly
couple of things for this type of plants:
the top of the root ball must not be buried, otherwise the plant may rot
its a root feeder, so you either need laterite substrate or put root tabs in, use root tabs which contain iron and nitrates
are you using co2, what is your lighting?

no CO2 and my lighting is barely over 1wpg and I have sand substrate. I can see new leaves shooting up so it must be doing OK. I will get some flourish tabs over the weekend.

I got 2 of these from petco, they were the plants in a tube. the one in my 10g low light stayed small, but the one in my 25g under highlight got huge. I eventully sold it to someone on here cause it out grew my tank. i did have it under high light w/co2 but i didnt have root tabs and it was just plain gravel.

thats a nice plant, hopefully it survives until I get my new lights. I am hoping it will fill the corner of my tank too.

i saw your other thread about moving to 2.5wpg. again, you'll need pressurised co2 and a good dosing regime, i would encourgae anyone to go ei dosing at 1.7wpg or above
the swords will like the sand so that's good, put the root tabs in just now, but if you switch to ei dosing you may not need to worry do much about it
would also suggest that if you get pressurised co2 place the output under your tiger lotus to help keep it in the tank for longer before hitting the surface. i also investied in a solenoid so my co2 is only on with my lights. these two things save me $$$ on co2 costs.
