I have never had this issue. If the breeder box is too close to the current, it will go under. I put it at the furthest difference from the filter and it works out well.

I am not blessed with baby briggs - but were I that would spell utter disaster for me- I have ghost shrimp that do a good job of killing any snail under about 3mm in diameter.
