Arowana Recovery

Ok, around 4 months ago, i was a complete and total noob. I bought 1 silver aro, 2 silver dollars, 2 oscars and 2 pacus (all babies). they were so small at the time and was unaware of their growth rate so i placed them all in a 35g tank.

but after a couple of months, i was overwhlemed by their growth rate. the 3 inch pacus are around 9 inches right now. but now im trying to take fishkeeping seriously. i bought a separate tank for the oscars (100g) and i'll be donating the pacus to a mini zoo near our place (w/c has a huuuge tank full of pacus)

so ive bought a separate tank for my silver aro who is now around 9 inches long. however, after being placed with the oscars and pacus for a couple of months, my arowana suffered some injuries. he had nipped fins all over which are now black on the edges, missing scales, and scratches.

what can i do to speed up his recovery? aside from clean water, can i add methylene blue? (thats the only one available at our lfs). what is the treatment process for his recovery? also, is it ok for the silver dollars to be in the same tank as the aro?

Clean water is best. Aquarium salt is good to add, but I wouldn't add methylene blue. It'll dye your silicone blue permanently. Stress Coat is good to help out the healing process. Arowanas fins grow back fairly quick, so just feed it well and it'll bounce back.

try and find you some melafix also its like anticeptic kinda n wiill speed his healing. i had 4 fish in a 220 galon 4 foot by 4 foot tank and it was overcrowded..lol. aros are top water feeders and swimmers so find ya a tank with as many top water square feet as posible. mine was a little over 2 foot and only 3 yrs old when i hadto sell him n his rank. the clown knufe n red tailed catfish that were his buddies are now, as far as i know living happily at the aquarium of the americas in new orleans. well good luck with him n if ya have any more problems ill try to help . i MISS my arro! boohoo..lol
