Arowanas and Rays

you know its funny, all this talk about big fish (oscars, koi, arrowana, etc.) and i've got to wonder; (except for the oscars) how long do you think it would take all of them to grow to their max size?

Not very long with the proper diet tank and care and arow will grow to about 18" then slow down so prob 2-3 years and even longer if he is slowly moved up in tank sizes if started out in a huge tank with proper diet not very long

Tays are slow-growers....aros grow quickly.

Kody, I noticed a bit at the bottom of your sig suggesting you are ordering rays and an ornate bichir....I strongly suggest you do not attempt to keep an ornate bichir with rays....about 80% of the people I know that have attempted it have ended up with eyeless rays.

TAken from "Bud' Freshwater Stingrays" website.

"Arowanas and rays do make a very impressive scenenery since the arowana always rules the top part of the tank while the rays hop along the bottom. Just make sure that you have the tankspace to house both fish. It's not a smart choice to start with since both fish can end up dead. My lil Red Tail Golden arowana shredded the living daylights out of one of my rays. So for those of you who keep Arowanas and fw stingrays in a tank; THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU! See gruesome pix below. I was fortunate enough that the ray's stinger was trimmed probably by the wholesaler but the arowana did sustain some minor injuries on its gill plate. Despite of what happened, I still keep rays with my arowanas."

Ouch ugly. A friend of mine has, successfully, for years had an Asian (chili red) and a couple of leopoldi rays (some large clown loaches also share the tank) together.
