I have an Australian (i think its a pearl) Arrowana (pic below). Unfortunatly it has not been too successful at filling the upper level of my tank (what it was bought for), spending all its time lower down. I'm now considering getting a silver arrowana as every one ive seen stays right at the top. I was wondering if anyone knows how the two would get along? Any experiences? Or any other ideas for a high level swimmer that can look after itself as I have quite an agressive setup, which includes a distochodus and 6 large leporinus?

Sorry about the merky pic, it was taken just after a large water change and normally takes a couple of hours to settle down, and the extra fins belong to a flagtail!!!!!!!

How big is your tank?

Arrowanas are also solitary fish, so they should not be kept two to a tank unless you have a HUGE tank (think public aquarium)

Tank size?

The tank is 106 US Gallons. A few of my inmates have the potential to far outgrow the tank, inparticular the distochodus, the wallago and the arrowana, but as they grow so will the size of the tank! I'm aware of potential sizes and like to buy fish smaller and watch them grow. I'm already on my 3rd tank! Big fish are a great reason to get a bigger tank! The other half can't argue too much when theres a genuine reason!!!

If another arrowana is going to be a bad idea then any other suggestions would be good. It really does have to be a top level filler though as only my 2 flagtailed prochilodus venture into midwater and above.

A lot of people say that aussi's are aggressive and what not, but they can live with silvers for sure. At my CT LFS the owner has three 35in silvers with a 20in pearl living in a 180 for 23 years.
