i just started looking at monsterfishkeepers and aquaticpredators and at monster they say jardinis need almost as much room as silvers because they are less flexible, this true? and are the other species of australian aros(srry forgot name) as agrressive as jardinis and same size?
Jars will eventually require almost as much space as a "typical" silver or black, but it will take longer. They'll be fine in a 24" tank 95% of the time. The leichardti is basically the same as a jardini, but more colorful. They cost around $250 for juvies.
Post on MFK and you'll get the oppinions of a ton of arowana keepers.
i had a silver arrowana for about a year... went from being 3 inches long to over 14 inches. yeah, I had to sell it back to the fish store I bought it from! It ate only live food and constantly. Beware! you need to be an ultra serious aquarist with a 42306987205 gallon tank or else this fish will outgrow your setup. They are **** cool though.
At the NJ Adventure Aquarium (Camden, NJ) they have a very large tank setup with three to four large (2 - 3.5 ft.) Arrowanas in it. The tank is just massive.
thanks for all ur help guys. i was talkin to people on monsterrfishkeepers all day and they say i can keep a silver in a 300 gallon 96''-30''-25'' tank and it will have plenty of space for life, which is what ill propably do
i keep a RTG asian arowana and have never fed it feeders the only live food it gets are super worms and thats only every 1 -2 months.
mine eats pellets, small whitefish and prawns.
as for tank size 180g is minimum imo.
