Artificial Coral - Turning Brown

Don't worry about the PH. But out of curiosity,test it out of the tap,then leave some out in a glass for 24 hours,and test it. Like BFM said,it is probably the dead coral raising it,but this would let you know for sure.

And if you have ammonia in your tap,switch your water conditioner to Prime.
 
Yeah I know it looks kinda saltwaterish.... But the fish really seems to like swiming around it (and pecking at it). pH is high coming out of the tap as well, but was thinking if this was real coral, could be what makes adjusting it so difficult. Anyway, he seems happy. Light is on for about 10 hours a day. I try to keep timing with the sun... with a two hour delay as I persnoally do not get up with the sun, so I give him more sunlight at the back end of the day. It's kinda like "The Truman Show", but with a fish....
