Artificial rock formation

Hi
I'm trying to make a custom formation but am not sure what i could use or quite how i could make it. i do have some ideas but was wondering if anyone here had tried it, or knew materials or techniques that work

you could use molded plastic rocks or something similar. Maybe pieces of flower pots but make sure there are no sharp edges. as far as attaching them you can use aquarium sealant to attach them this might not work on flower pots as the adhesive may not stick. Hope this is what you were looking for. Why not use real rocks?
