As requested my HOB Nitrate filters on 6 tanks

What kind of plants are you using?
Forgot to include that info from the last thread that prompted this one LOL. I have tried a few and researched different plants and by far the common Pothos house plat, originally and deep tropical jungle plant that grows in the shade wit very little light is the best choice. Extremely pest resistant, hardy, fast growing, semi aquatic, and very easy to grow in low light. Pothos has proven to me to be fish friendly, nitrate removing and cheap ($5 for a large potted plant at Lowes). See DIY Nitrate Pothos filter below.

To be honest I haven't made any serious attempt to classify my Pothos plants by toxicity other then to buy them from the same vendor "Lowes Home Improvement". I also noticed that in articles where they are grown in public aquariums or floated they make no mention of any down side other then that then once established they really take off.

My best indicator that all is well between my Pothos and all my fish is that they are breeding and the fry surviving. Also my two Bombay cats that investigate everything in the house have had no issues at all with the plants at all as some stories (myths perhaps) claim cat toxicity.

I can only say however that Lowes my be your best bet a I have purchased from them at various times some with golden highlighted leaves and some all green and never had a toxic issue and have never heard of any first hand accounts only article climes. Every first hand account I have heard only talk of how much their fish love the roots.

best wishes for a full recovery. sorry to hear your wife has to go through that.

Thanks. After a good week this weekend was hard on her as the steroids wore off which help counter the chemo. Toya she is on the chemo drip for 5 hours so I have some free time to work out. She will actually feel much better after chemo because of the off-set drugs (anti sickness, steroids) mixed in and wont feel the effects for 48 hours. After chemo she has radiation daily which has its own set of issues but usually has the most dramatic affect on the main tumor.

Lesson leaned always get a second opinion early on unexplained symtoms and do your own research on the next and share your symptoms with others. The first doctor kept telling her for years her symptoms were normal and ordered no biopsy, finally the symptoms got so bad she got a second opinion and metastasized cancer was an obvious discovery throughout her body and confirmed with testing. This cancer (reproductive) has a very high cure rate when discovered early.
