asian theme tank photos

Hmmm..... Great stuff - really gorgeous - I'm wondering also about fish that are plant eaters?

Would love to try this but my tinfoil barbs eat everything I've ever put in there! One guy at the LFS told me they wouldn't be able to eat Amazon sword as it is too tuff - but guess what - it only took them overnight to devour about $10 worth!

Awesome tank! I agree with the white clouds suggestion, but I would get golden white clouds. Also, not to hijack, but I have just moved to Sunnyvale and I was hoping you could recommend a LFS. Right now I have been shopping at Natural Life in Sunnyvale. Thanks a lot!

wow, thanks for the kind comments everyone. i think these are most likely the same bamboo that everyone is thinking about (generic name, not really bamboo at all. go google it, hehe) . they grow *very* easily--low light, water. i also wasn't sure previously if they'll thrive submersed but i once had a small stalk which grew this way, so i went for it. thanks for additional input on these bamboos, now i know for sure i didn't make a mistake. hah.

MamaBarb, these plants got some mighty tough stalk and leaves. if you happen to find any fish which eats it i would really like to know! :D

as for fish, white clouds is a great idea! thanks for the stocking suggestions. i'll definately check them out. another thought was rummynoses, always been a favorite of mine. and Lark, if you don't mind a few minutes drive, the dolphin pet village in Campbell is worth checking out. average pricing, but they got a huge selection of livestocks and supplies. beware the weekends, they tend to get crowded.

thanks jamzwayne!

several has asked where i got the bamboos. if you look in ebay, you can find some pretty decent deals. i got a bundle of 50 12" shoots for around $45 after shipping. that's not bad considering they usually go for over a dollar each in the local asian markets.

WOW!!! Those two tanks are amazing!!! Just one question though, did you weigh the bamboo down? I found that bamboo liked to float to the surface unless held down.
:)

:thud: I love it. They look amazing, really cool idea and a great job bring it from a vision to a reality..... :D

You have turned this hobby into an art.

My hats off to you my friend.

I sent your link to some friends so they may have a look. You just might inspire some of them to get off the "duff" and get a tank setup and enjoy the beauty of this hobby.

Thanks again.
