Ask to winter a friends plec

Maybe it was 4 inches when your friend put it into the pond last spring. Fish grow really fast in outdoor ponds, or at least that has been my experience. Hope you don't have a lot of live plants in your tank. Going to need a lot of algae wafers.

Nice pleco.....for the winter, I don't see a problem with a 55. Wonder what their plans are though for next winter...?

so that pleco just came out of the pond now? how low of a temp can common/sailfins handle?

i know fancier varietys are strickly tropical but i hear the above two are able to handle low 60's...can they go lower?

My mother-in law has common sailfins in an outdoor pond, during the winter, but this is in southern california and the lowest temps are 60F.

thats why women cant be carpenters all their lives they been told( ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,) this is 6 inches

from the angle on the photo the pleco looks as big as the chair. lol
