I thought that it was illegal to ship Asolene spixi snails across state lines or transport in general?

Has something changed? Because if it has there's two auctions I'd like to bid on, one for actual snails and one for clutches, that are ending in a few days. I've been trying to find these snails locally but outside Mysteries and Pond snails, none of the LFS bring in any kind of other snail.

as far as i know, the laws have not changed. i don't think they ever will for spixis, either.
there are almost always auctions for spixis, but it usually catches up with both the seller and the buyer, even if they buyer had no idea about the laws

As far as I know, Spixis are still illegal to transport across state lines, and have been for years now. Unfortunately, there are still people who ignore the laws, so it isn't uncommon to find auctions for them on Ebay/Aquabid.

D*mn, I still can't have them then. Grr. Ah well, better to have posted first than bought first.

It'd probably be easier to get them from other hobbyists, with the transport restrictions and all.

It'd also be a good idea to notify the seller that what he's doing is illegal.

i agree with vampie

I asked them first, they both said there's no legality issues of any kind with this species currently. Which is why I popped on here to ask next instead of buying without asking... because well, wrong that it may be, I don't trust those who are in a position to gain money with telling the truth 100%.

i don't think that's wrong, its just human nature. thats why i like to buy from people i trust! :)

If you start buying from sources with illegal specimens, then the USDA will track you down and see if you've been acquiring those specimens illegally or not unless there is proof to prove otherwise.

Well, looks like every source I've found so far is illegal, thus why I still don't have them. Bah.
