I bought African Chiclids at LFS out of the Assor. African tank. I cannot find out what species they are. I've looked thru alot of different links but cannot find them anywhere. I read in a post about mixed breeding and was wondering if they're hybrids or what. If someone has seen these Assor. African tanks at stores or knows anything about them I would really appreciate your response.

So far I have not found any like the ones I have. I am trying to post pictures of them here but I can't figure out how. One looks like a calico. I'll keep trying to post photos. Thanks for the input.

Hopefully that worked. If anyone has any idea about species please let me know. They are all under 2" juveniles

Hey, Thanks for the replies. I found a pic of maylandia crabro that looks almost identical. I couldn't find a juvenile lab. fulleborni but mine does have a "nose". I also found a good article about mixed cichlid tanks at LFSs. It answered alot of my questions. I knew I should have bought ones I knew something about but most of them at LFS would grow too large for my tank. I do have one yellow kribinsis(background last pic).

Anyway thanks

eee i wouldn't keep kribensis with africans rift lake cichlids. yes, they are both african fish, but kribs are from rivers and the others are from the lakes. the lakes need a high ph of 8.2 and up, and kribs actually prefer slightly acidic water.
also, as the others grow up, they will become much more agressive than the kribs, and might end up hurting it.
you have a male krib, which doesn't matter much aggression-wise, because if you dont have a pair kribs can be timid fish.

fulleborni's get up to 7".... they can be very robust and take over your tank when full grown. a very large mbuna.

what size is your tank? i have mine in a 33 right now and they are at 2".... and i'm going to have to move them soon to a larger tank, over 70 gallons.

They are in a 35 gl. I am looking to get a 75 in the next few months. I'll probably move the krib to another tank because my PH isjust over 8. Would he do alright in a community tank?
2 gold barbs
2 buenos aires tetras
2 pearl gouramies
2 cories
1 tetra(can't remember sera fin?)

yes he should be fine in the community tank. again, he doesn't have a female, so i dont suspect he will show too much aggression towards other fish. (since kribs are most aggressive during mating time).

make sure the tank has enough hiding places, as he would be very happy with a cave to call his own. :)
