Well today at the LFS I bought four of the above. I think they are Apistogramma Bitaeniata. Does anyone know anything about them? I am still floating them and trying to look at the same time, but since I turned out the lights it is kind of hard.
Any site's with good pic's would be a great help.

They are a blackwater species of Apisto so your pH needs to be around 6.0 for them to be truly happy along with gH/kH as low as possible. Filtering over peat usually does the trick.. I use Jiffy peat pellets for this (check out your local hardware store in the plants section.) Mine are picky about their food and refuse everything but live blackworms and a little frozen mysis. Overall they are rather gentle and prefer harem setups (one male to multiple females).

Be forewarned that there are quite a few different variations on the A. bitaeniata species available at the moment, notably A. bitaeniata "momon" which is far more red than the typical A. bitaeniata and there is also a new form that resembles A. bitaeniata but is probably a new species. These are being called A. sp. "Fresca" or "Strawberry" at the moment. Have a look at http://www.geocities.com/mikefjacobs/fresa1.jpg .

Yep, thats those "Assorted Apistos" I told had been on Rodney's list for a while back several months ago. Hope they turn out to be a species you like.

BTW, I stopped by our only fish store over here in Corbin (the new "Jungle Pets") and found a 6" Yellow Pacu. I picked it up for $35. These guys are supposed to only reach 16", and are rarely exported. Must have been a fluke in with a bunch of Red Belly Pacu.
 
My Kh and GH are low, kh is less than 3. ph runs about 6.6 to 6.8. I am going to hatch some Brine shrimp, hope they will eat it. They have been in the LFS since Tues. and look pretty good. One is definately a male, has really long pointy fins with the yellow stripe at the bottom of them and has a bit of blue on front. Not sure about the rest, but I think one is a female by the more rounded belly.

I am going to order some Black Water Expert to add to it also. I really hope they do well. I will try to get a picture in the next couple of days.

I love Apistos - I just picked up 2 more Apisto Cacutoides yesterday.

BTW - my Apistos and other Dwarfs are doing very well at about 6.8 PH - But I don't have that species which may have more particular care requirements. Now breeding may be another story

Well after the lights came on this morning I spotted three of the four apistos swimming through the plants along the back bottom of the tank and around the driftwood. They are definately A. Bitaeniata. I observed one of them eating but the other's hid. One of them (maybe the same one) was checking out caves and flower pots. They seem to be sticking together for now. I don't have any live food, so I squirted some tetra liquid Bloodworms in. I don't know if they ate it or not, but every other fish thought it was wonderful. I still couldn't get a good pic, to much spot algae on the glass:D .
 
hey RARE CICHLIDS do you have any pics of the yellow pacu?
and what size tank is he in?
 
No pic yet. But I will get some soon. He's in a 500g now.
