I am not going to bash Marineland.

heaters fail.
but this failed in my 110 marine tank(again). this morning I discovered all the fish laying on their sides and a bad smell.
the fish were still alive, barely, another stealth heater failed.. allowing water to enter and short(bad smell).

a quick waterchange at 3:45 in the morning.. but It looks like I may lose all the inhabitants.. atleast I am prepared for the worst.

it will mark the end of my marine tanks tho..I am beside myself at I watch my hippo tang, tomini tang, my percula clown pair, my school of reef chromis and my coral beauty struggle to survive.

I did sent marineland an email and voiced my opinion of their product.

Oh man, how awful. I'm really sorry to hear this.

I don't know what's going on with their stealth heaters lately. I've always had good luck with them. They're the only heaters I've found that can stand up to turtles and aggressive cichlids.

thanks,
before I left for work I checked on them the tomini had gotten up and be swam into the rocks(he often holds there) the Hippo was up right and the clowns were together..struggling but together, they were upright.
these appear to be breathing better.
I am holding onto hope they recover.. I have 4 years invested in these fish. the tangs are my favorites.
clowns are just cute, mean but cute

VF this has definitely made me rethink stealth heaters. I am currently looking into alternatives

I recently read a thread on another site, started by another distressed consumer of Marineland Heating products...

Marineland Stealth Heater: Explodes and shatters side pane on 90 gallon aquarium.

Not sure if the tried a W/C without unplugging heater, or if It just failed.

From what I read, the owner was in the rood and heard the explosion, while watching it happen in slow motion, as most life changing incidents happen in slow motion...

I personally like Marineland's C-series filters, and tanks and stands, but be cautions of the heaters as they have been failing...

I feel for anyone who has had to endure uncomfortable situations on account of Marineland... United Pet Group has launched an investigation into all the claims...

I guess we shall see.

Very sorry to hear of the heater failure Star. Good to know you are prepared for the worst though we are all hoping for the best!

what a shame. I have stopped using them altogether as I have had many fail in the past year (all under a year old) while all my old ones are still working fine. I have moved onto titanium heaters or jagers

I'm so sorry for your disaster and hope your fish survive. I recently found my 29-gallon (fw) tank -- heated by a Marineland heater -- at 90 degrees. Needless to say, I immediately changed out about 13 or 14 gallons of water and prayed I wouldn't lose all my fish. I was fortunate, I only lost one hatchetfish, but still. I have Marineland heaters in all my other tanks and am just holding my breath. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and your fish.

+1 with you on the titanium...:thm:
