attempt at a planted 55gal (build thread pic heavy)

I personally wouldn't add stress coat, but that's just me. The more unnecessary chemicals you add, the more starting points new problems can come from. :worthy:

I think that you are confusing Stress coat with stress Zyme.

Stress Zyme is the unnecessary bacteria in a bottle that does not do anything.

Stress Coat is a dechlorinator/dechloraminator.

:D I think so too! Traveled far to get them.

i'm sorry can you explain the bubbler thing better?

bubblers create oxygen, but remove CO2? and HOB filters will remove more CO2 than canisters assuming the nozzel is always below the surface? plants obviously need CO2 to make oxygen, so bubblers aren't required in planted tanks...why do ppl use spray bars in planted tanks, would that not disrupt the surface water more?

sorry if its off topic...just having a brain fart...trying to wrap my head around all this

I really like what you did with the substrate! I would lose the fake driftwood tho, get the real stuff it'll look much better!
Maybe some long val's in the back right side would look nice :)

Looks good!

I'm not a big fan of the fake driftwood too but my zebra loaches absolutely LOVE them, and it's cute to see them pop in and out of the hollow cave, so I can't deny them the pleasure.

I would LOVE some plant suggestions because I'm just new to the plant-tank scene. I don't want to go TOO crazy (meaning not really stocking to the brim with live plants, any plant that demands A LOT of care, any plant that's really hard to find and/or expensive) because I'm broke at the moment trying to pay my school loans, and trying to go back to school AGAIN. yay.

Bubblers do not inherently create or remove anything. They agitate the surface of the water to allow for sufficient gas exchange.

When people with higher tech planted tanks add more CO2 than is already present, this agitation gasses off the CO2 thus making it ineffective.
