Attractive doesn't mean better

when a few cute jocks are fighting for the girls attention,... the geek sneaks in and scores,...lol

They quantify it by fin size (area) and pigmentation.

Even though it seems mundane, this is actually very important information to Evolutionary biologists, population ecologists etc...
i'd rather think they interviewed the females one by one in a separate room, handed them pics of the individual males and had them rate them on a scale from 1-10 and plugged all the answers into a pc to determine what traits were sexiest. :hitting:

Another animal actually does that. The Rhinoceros beetle. Most of the time to big males will fight for a female and the stronger more determined male gets the girl. Well sometimes when the two big males are fighting a smaller less impressive male like a runt almost sneaks in mates with the female then leaves. By the time the big males are done fighting its to late.

Even in nature brains beats brauns.... Well sometimes lol.

I thought it to be a rather curious article and had no idea that it would lead to solving world problems! Some of the replies are hilarious!

Good thing we aren't banking on the ichthyologists to solve our nation's problems then huh? Kinda funny though, the difference in their mating strategy is basically a matter of rape or consent. Guess the uggos don't have it that great lol.
it's not rape, it's a sneak attack!

i wonder if that line of defense would hold up in court
"well your honor, I didn't really rape her. she just wasnt paying attention so i just kind of snuck in and since my sperm travels so quickly, it's almost like I wasn't there at all!"
