I bought a pair of Peacocks from the LFS last Saturday, they were in a tank with about 12 or so others, everybody looked fine. I put them in a 30 gal. that I have been running for a while, one is doing fine but the other is not eating, Ammonia 0 nitrites 0 PH 8.0 temp. 78-80* Any suggestions? Thanks, Mike

Peacocks

Cathy, thank you for the reply,I do not know the nitrate level, one is for sure showing dominance over the one that is not eating. However he does have a place to hid. I do'nt know what else to do!! Except to remove him for the tank before it is too late. What do you think? Mike

Is it a "pair" as in male/female or as in 2 peacocks, both male or both female?

If its one male and one female, you need more females

If it is 2 males, it is a dominance thing - get some dither fish or remove one male

And if it is 2 females, it shouldn't be an issue

If I get one more tank my wife says she is leaving, sure going to miss her. .

Now you, sir, have your priorities right...I commend you....

I've found (and heard) that Africans do better in small groups. If you have 2 males, I'd get atleast 4 females for them. Females aren't nearly as pretty as males, but it will help keep the males' aggression down.

Also, there are many types of Peacocks in the Auloncara genus, and some can reach 6 inches, which IMO is too large for a 30g tank. :)

Agree on all points.
