i have a yellow & black auratus (female i think).for the past 3-4 days she has not been eating, very wide lipped looking (sorry no pics) still active when being bother by other fish.at times she is @ he top breathing hard. babies or internal parasite. water levels perfect .just checked @ lfs Something Fishy in Westland ,Mi. 9 other african in tank no problems.

Not sure about the "very wide lipped looking." Hard to tell without a picture. Every mouthbrooder I've had holding only showed a full throat poking out. If she's still active even though she's not eating, there's a good chance she's holding. If she's being pestered by the other fish and getting exhausted, that would most likely be why she is up at the top breathing hard.

How many caves/hiding places do you have in your tank? You might want to rearrange a couple decorations to throw off the other fish. You may have no choice but to move her to another tank.

I like the other tank idea.

Yeah, other tank is a great idea.....I like that also...:)...here is a picture of a female electric yellow holding...(all females cichlids look like this)...

if your female (if it is) looks like this then she is holding...but yeah move her to another tank (like Nolapete suggested)(providing you have one),,and let her recup...most male cichlids will terrorize the female in order for her to spit out her eggs...so they can have lunch.....sorry for the poor choice of words...
