Does anyone know where I can get a free trial (like 30 days) of auto cad without entering a bunch of personal info? My school has the full version of 2012 (getting 2013 in a few months). I am looking for similar version. It can be a few years older. I just want it to be similar to what my school has. I know they dont change a whole lot every year.

Once again, I am looking for a free TRIAL to play around with it and see how well my computer runs it. I dont want to enter a bunch of personal info like the company that makes it wants to download a trial of the 2013 version.

If first name, last name, and email address is too much personal information you'll have to do without.
http://usa.autodesk.com/autocad/trial/

If you enter that info and press continue or download (whatever it says), it comes up with a bigger box asking for your home phone number, your cell number, your address, and other info. If you leave even one of those boxes blank, it doesnt let you download it. WAY too much info for a 30 day trial IMO.

I will check out the second link though. Thanks!

The only info that has to be accurate is the email address.

I often forget that most people don't automatically just make up the rest of the information.
If a nosy person or company has no legitimate reason for information, don't get mad, just make something up. It ultimately doesn't matter because the data miners have already got enough information to identify you, and YOU, and that person over there, if they chose to.

Your user name here, unless you lied about it, indicates nerdy radio control driver. That means more disposable hobby income than many. It also means there is enough paved area nearby to run RC vehicles on. That rules out the really rural areas. We know you're into fish tanks as you've got over 1100 posts here. We know you're smarter than some of your peers as you want to try AutoCAD at home. We know you go to one of the better schools as they teach using AutoCAD. They simply don't do that in most Detroit public schools. A good school puts you in a higher income postal zip code. That puts an enclosed mall within X miles, not just a strip mall with a video rental and a package liquor store. A good school puts the health care in your area at above average. And so on and so forth.

So, your new hobby involves making up a back story or three to help obfuscate your online history.

I never enter correct information on those. Sometimes I even enter a bogus email unless there is a link being sent. I see no reason to give up personal information to a company I don't know.

WOW, you got a lot out of very little info. Kind of creepy, but yet cool.

I dont have nearly as much disposable hobby income as the other people in the hobby. But because I pick my trucks wisely and what parts to get for them, I can keep them running on the cheap.

I will probably just make up some stuff. I just want to see how it runs on my computer and maybe play around a bit with it. I have auto cad 97 but it is stuck on an old laptop that doesnt boot every time. I havent quite figured out what the issue is, but I am 90% sure it has something to do with a dead battery on the motherboard.

that just scratches the surface of what you've put online. ;) at a glance so to say...

EDIT: dbos.... you don't need paved areas to drive RC's :silly: there's an RC quad that's big enough you can ride (and the RC portion can be disabled for just that) for example. 1/10+ scale rc's with monster truck tires will do just fine in a clearing in the backwoods. there's also crawlers that are specifically made to overcome rough terrain... and they have a huge following. and sand rails, helis, planes of all sorts, quad+ copters, fpv drones, etc, etc, etc...

LOL yeah. You know so much more.

True. It doesn't take pavement to drive either of my main rc vehicles.
