No, I was given 2 different brands of autofeeders & am worried to trust either, long term or just for vacations. Both can have issues with dumping too much food; or the opposite, food clumping & sticking in the chamber. Be careful & watch closely before you think all is good.

With any automatic mechanical device there is some risk of malfunction. I've never used them for 1 why spend money on something I can do so easily, 2 I enjoy feeding the most, 3 risk.

They freak me out a bit, too. I always worry the feeder will either drop all food in at once or none at all :/

Automatic feeders would be a last resort effort for me and only for a setup that absolutely needed daily or more often feeding. If I can't be there to monitor water conditions, I'd rather not have food added to the tank.

Most of my fish are 3-5yrs old and can easily go longer than a week without having food added to the tank. I've done it while away and I'm sure they could survive much longer if they had to.

No feeding is better if you can't be there for water changes.
