Average start up costs?

but they don't believe in fishless cycling...

After fishless cycling we bought stock for our 20G at Petsmart and told the clerk about the cycling method, water parameters, etc. She dutifully packed up 7 neons, 3 cories, 2 male guppies and a snail but said we really should only get 3 small fish for now because the tank couldn't handle the bioload. She then followed us to the cash register and wrote "no guarantee" on our receipt...

most chain stores will only garuntee 5 fish at a time ..that might be the whole no garuntee thing! but if you have issues about fish dying in the first few hours or days ..they for the most part replace them anyway! call ahead have done this before and gotten my fish replaced!

I would have asked for a manager, they have signs that say they guarantee their fish for 14 days. I would have cried foul and false advertising and see what they had to say then...

You can really buy the fish from anyplace as long as the fish look healthy, if I see dead/sick/decomposed fish floating around ANY tanks I won't buy from the store, period....

Another question--I am going to start the fishless cycling soon. We have some Pure Ammonia: made by Dinast. On the front it says Pure Ammonia but also shows it is Lemon scented... It does not foam when splashed and does not list ingredients?

Would this work?

I'm not positive, but I don't think you want anything scented, I would think that just means there is some other additive
