Awesome NEW site!!!!

I'll be checking in with aquariumboard.com from time to time to see if there's any action, since AC is so dead now. As much as I like Roan & have received a lot of help from her over the past months (thanks RA) I just don't support her idea of a hierarchy of "specialists" with special titles, etc. I enjoy the internet & forums for their democratic approach-- everyone contributes and is of equal status (exept for the moderators of course). So-called "authorities" = too much ego for my taste. Why not just let people contribute their information & let the reader decide for themselves who is trustworthy or not?
I think you should ask this on our board or send me an email or PM. This isn't the proper place for it, really.

I also think you are taking the idea out of context.

Again, PM or email me or post on our board.

Roan

Roan, this is not a personal attack on you, so please don't take it that way.
While I certainly don't condone flame wars, I do believe in open discussions, since that is the purpose of a forum--to learn and discuss. Let's keep the conversation "open" to all or else not bother.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but I feel very strongly about equality and freedom of information.

I tend to agree with Roan on this on both accounts, the established knowlegable people and that it should be brought up on her board since it deals with it.

Here on this site, I am the ahem Known expert on the Dwarf live bearer and other live bearers. Its not that I have an ego on it. They are just fish I have dedicated my collection to. There are others here that I bow down to since I know they are experts in their areas, such as RTR, MPQ and Plantbrain. These guys know theirr stuff.

That's OK that you disagree. I like to decide for myself who the "experts" are. :)

So, it's OK to talk about a site if we're saying its good, but it's not "proper" to talk about it if we're disagreeing? Doesn't sound like free speech to me :(

Ms. Bubbles,

I think you misunderstand. I have no problem with open discussion on the matter, I just don't believe that it belongs *here* on AC. I think that to do so would be to take advantage of the board itself, and of the people who have decided to stay or spend most of their time here. I don't think it would be proper behavior on our part, do you see?

So, if you wish to discuss this, please feel free to drop in to the board. Now that I think of it, I really wish you WOULD drop in and post how you feel about it. Not many have said they didn't like the ideas -- and they ARE just ideas -- so I would *really* love to hear what you have to say. You don't have to stay, of course.

I actually would prefer that everyone visit all the boards. Knowledge is power and research is best if backed by good sources -- ALL of these boards will be excellent sources of information and it can only benefit the internet aquaria community in the long run.

Roan: I AM one of the people spending time here. Are you? Do you not think that it's taking advantage of the AC boards to plug other (and your own) similar-to-AC web sites? I enjoy the freedom to speak my mind, but I also give you the freedom to speak yours! If it's OK to say it "rocks", it must also be OK to say it's not-so-good. No offence.

I've said my piece. Peace.

IMO, any free speech has consequences.

Just because you prefer/or demand it doesn't require any one to listen.

Are you tired of this forum going down at the end of each month?
I know I am, a new site has just opened and this site is guaranteed to keep vandals out and will always be open, never go down.
This forum has a lot of vandals on it, and I am sick and tired of putting up with them!

Try here, tons of people are joining, people know what their talking about here!
