Looks like I will be testing out Drs. F&S's customer service. My filter came in today, and there were several plastic pieces that were broken off.

:cry:

I am SO bummed...I wanted to setup my tank this weekend.
 
Aw, that stinks. I think Drs. F & S will come through for you and help you out. I ordered a strip light from Petsmart that arrived with broken bulbs and I'd wanted to use the light strip the day it came, so I know how you feel!
 
They have GREAT customer service. They have even sent me a replacement before I sent back the original!
 
I'll lay 3-1 that you'll get great service: it's how they distinguish themselves and get you to come back.
 
Man that is a bummer. What kind of filter is it and what was broken on it? Did it look like shipping damage?
 
:) E-mails are ok but that's the long way around. Find a minute between 6am & midnite CST 7 days to get some live on the problem. They're extremely helpful. They once over nighted a hose to me as a courtesy. (someone forgot to place it in the order). The phone is the way to go. "T"

Have your order # handy.

And you'll have a 3 minute phone call.

Maybe, just maybe 5 minutes in your case with a broken filter.

And your new filter would most likely be in the mail that day.
 
The filter is an Eheim Classic 2213.

The parts that are broken are the indented plastic pieces used in the locking mechanism (not sure how else to describe it)...along with some other smaller plastic pieces inside.

There is evidence that the box was dropped, most likely before shipping since no other products and nor the shipping box shows any signs of a fall.

We could glue these pieces we think, but since we think it was dropped, and just the way it was smashed, we are unsure of the integrity of the rest of the filter. So, better to be safe than sorry.

I e-mailed them Saturday night since it was so late. They responded Sunday telling me to call customer service, but I was on my way out the door. And I didn't come back last night til very late. Today, I am up at school all day, and have a class that goes til 9pm...so it's doubtful I will be able to call them today. Hopefully tomorrow night.
