hey all, im new but have been keeping fish for 20yrs or more, have been manager in many lfs, but i tried to help anyone that wanted to learn the art of keeping fish,. you have to understand that lfs dont pay much to employees at all, the people who do fish for the most part are just hobbiest that want to work around the fish, they will say anything to make the sell, 4 the most part,
my real issue is im looking for axolotals , which are all water salamanders from mexico., they are a banned species in many states but to my surprise many fish stores order them anyway, only thing is i havent seen any around in quite some time,. would anyone in any state mostly north know where i can find a pair or some links on the net where i can order some ?
hey another really neat fish i recently got is an american eel, they get real big / real fast and real mean,. whats not to like .. pic to follow as soon as i get my cam up and running
thanks and glad to be here~

One thing i see alot is that its spelt wrong all the time ;)

AXOLOTL

And the mexican walking fish isnt banned where i live they have loads around the corner at my LFS.

On ebay they also sell the eggs and baby larve, i dont know about where you live though as im in the uk.

I would try contacting a lab supply business. The true axolotl is not that uncommon, but most frequently, the animals labeled such in LFS around here are actually tiger salamander larvae, which can retain their larval form for more than a year, but are not the true axolotl. They are used extensively in labs, though, so a good healthy supply is available.

If they are illegal in your state, however, I'd encourage you to respect local regulations and not purchase any. This board will not encourage nor condone illegal acts.

yes i know the difference between a tiger salamander and an axoltol, i use to get many tigers in the bags of feeders for the lfs i worked at.
as for> This board will not encourage nor condone illegal acts.< i certanly dont think a federal agent will knock my door down for 2 simple axolotls, and i certainly have the sense NOT to let them go in the wild. but i do respect the law and will check into this matter ferther..
