axolotyls and zebra danio fry Q's

Hey

I've been keeping tropical fish for ages now but last week I picked up an axolotyl at a pet store, mainly because i've always wanted one and also because I had a tank doing nothing - it only had 4 zebra danios in it.

My question is does anyone know much about them? They told me to only feed him twice a week, but that seems cruel!!! But I will if that is all they eat.

Also something else, after taking the danios out and putting the axy in i've noticed over 30 tiny fry in the tank - at least I am pretty sure they are fry. Do danio's have live fry??
I don't really want them and i'm sure the axy will finish them off as they love fry and tadpoles

Being an amphibian they don't eat as much as we do, so feeding twice a week would be more than enough...and yep, he'll gulp down those fry sooner or later...lol...maybe I should get one of those to take care of my guppy fry !

Oh, do a search for them on the internet, I do know there are some pretty good sites out there with lots of info on keeping them.

They are pretty neat. I just watched a show last night that showed them in thier natural habitat. They can get quite big, recomended 10 gallons, but at 10-12" full grown(larger in the wild) I would try to get them something bigger.

Danios are egg layers, but it is possible they had a batch of fry without tou seing the eggs.

Zebras are not livebearers. They must have laid eggs.
