hi,
I started my tank with 4 female platies, and noticed instantly that one had had babies.one survived and is now quite big. Then another had some & 2 are growing fast. Then another had some & 4 of hers are out in open now.
I thought it was the last lot but now i have another lot appeared....babies everywhere.I dont understand it as they already have had babies ? This is getting silly as at this rate i cant add what i intended.
Do they keep having babies even after they have had them,i am totally puzzled.

just like guppies, you added water....

Oh dear.....should have got males. Will have to find somewhere to take them,or get another tank. They are lovely, just hope that not all of latest lot survive.Tank will be overloaded.

lol You might have actually managed to get a batch of females that arn't fry hungry or a smart gene pool. My female platy is always getting pregnant, but I never manage to see them (she eats them all). The only proof I have that she actually was pregnant is the little tiny fry that managed to survive (she has been pregnant about 4 times though). That little fry is smart. He is always hiding in the fake plants and live plants. I hardly see him.

Good luck on finding a pet store to take them. I am sure you will be able to find someone. Usually the family own stores are the better choice. Most of the time they will give you store credit too.

I have my platies in a tank with my ADF. Between the adult platys and the ADF I get about 1-4 survivors out of each brood, and I have TOO MANY platys. But I love them all
