Baby Amano!

Well, this was an exciting day. After tending to my batch of amano/bamboo larvae for the last three and a half weeks, I was surprised to find that some of my amano were no longer swimming in the water, but were hanging on the sides and bottom of the tank, picking at the glass for food. It was great seeing them survive up to this point, but this was just fantastic! They're like miniature amano, which I suppose is what they're supposed to look like. :) I can't get over how fast their walking legs came in and replaced the swimming ones. From seeing them last night, I never would have guessed that they would look like this today. So cool....

That's great news Pacalan! I know what kind of work goes into rearing amano shrimp. I hope you have similar success with your bamboo shrimp offspring.
 
Thanks everyone! I was a little discouraged after losing my lost batch, but these results more than make up for that. A few more larvae made the switch last night, so things seem to be going well.

I do hope that there is some success with the bamboo offspring. I learned some discouraging information about trying to tackle the vampire breeding, which makes me more determined to try and get the bamboo to turn out. Maybe if I can work that out, the vampires will be more of a possibility. I just don't want to risk losing my female vampire.
 
It was a reltively small batch of larvae this time. For some reason neither of the shrimp released all of their eggs. On the plus side, I never noticed any loss to the number of larvae.

There's between 40 and 50 larvae. So far, about 5 of them have turned into shrimp. It's kind of interesting. The only ones to have made the switch are on the small side. The larger larvae are still floatng about.
