I recently purchased 2 baby silver arowanas both with their yoke sacks.Ive had them for about 2 weeks. Ones sack is just about absorbed. The others almost looks to be abit larger with a few blood spots and vessels showing. Both are very active and seem to be doing well. My worries are about the larger sack. Anyone have experience with ones still having the sack? Just abit more info. Tank is a 125gal. This will work until they get larger. They are the only fish in the tank. Temp is 80. Ive fed them once to see if they were interested in blood worms which they both were. I was just curious, I know not to feed them because the yoke sack is their form of nutrients right now. Any help would be grateful.

I would worry only if it not shrink or you see free blood in them, try not to feed the one with the yoke sack...

They are delicate at that stage so make sure that the water paramaters are consistantly good. With them being the only fish in the tank the chances of stress by other fish is eliminated unless they start to fight with each other. All you can do is keep the water stable and keep stress to a minimum.

Once they drop their yolk sack try to get them on crickets, chopped shirmp and krill, earthworms, and even pellets. As they grow you'll need to watch for signs of aggression because they usually dont do well in pairs (unless you are lucky enough to have some that actually pair up---which is rare)

Goodluck and keep us updated! For more info check out www.monsterfishkeepers.com. There is a forum there dedicated to arowanas which has TONS of information about them.
