The best way to give it water would be to buy one of the specially made gel cubes for inverts. I know Fluker's makes a few.

congrats! those are very pretty spiders. for food, you can try some various worms. Spiders pretty much need live food so try some meal worms, wax worms, super worms (when he's bigger). For water, you generally want jsut a very shallow little dish of water. At that size though, I would avoid it. Just keep the tank misted daily, and maybe provide one of those gel pads for providing water to inverts, as Vicious mentioned.

schultz moisture plus crystals from home depot near the tropical plants...

put like 1/2 tsp in a cup of water and let sit. make sure you keep it in a jar with an air tight lid. you'll have water for him till he's full grown just about.

you can use a deli cup with a lid... melt a hole (with a soldering iron) big enough for him to fit in the side... fill it up with the water crystals (after they've expanded with water) and hide it in a hide he can gain access through so you don't have to look at it...

if you're planning on breeding roaches it'll be very helpful and thrifty to have around anyway.

also... the only thing i do different is i add a third dish for them. instead of keeping the oranges bare since i keep a small colony i keep them in a cup. i swap the oranges with something similar to the next vid when they're eaten up and back to oranges when that's done, etc., etc..

EDIT: the recipe i use is basically whatever veggies i have around for my beardie though...

oh, and i got my b. dubias from gregs exotic inverts... www.citrusxsandfire.webs.com. i highly recommend him. service and packing job were excellent. become a member to his site and you can usually get discounts also.

please DO NOT use water crystals..they get absolutely no moisture from them.

for slings, use a water bottle and spray the sides of the enclosure at least twice a week. make sure you have good ventilation for this species.

i'd also recommend joinig tarantulas.us, a great forum with awesome people.

hmmm... i maybe jumped the gun on that one. we all know what assuming does...

i can't seem to find anything suggesting they can't attain moisture that way, just that the salts are probably not so good for them. got another reference possibly?

also... how would the gel cubes be any different? is there something i'm missing here?
