Aknif-I bet you would look hot in one, (baby blue, or even a light yellow)!!!

While were on the slushy grocerystore parking lot bit, you should look for a pair of chains/cletes that fit over your shoes(they have them @ sporting good stores). They will minimize slipping on those icy mornings.
 
If you're looking for good baby slippers/shoes, check these Robeez out...they're the best! (And come in the cutest designs!) Very flexible, all leather, babies/toddlers can't pull them off, and they're 100% machine washable.
 
I like the bundle bag thingies for the little ones..it's so hard to keep stuffing their arms and legs in everything. You can put them in one in their carrier and cover with blankets to take out.
As to changes of clothes...you can go through 2..3 outfits per day, at least I did. Someone was always spitting up...or diapers leaking. I used cheap diapers..and it was amlost 20 yrs ago from my youngest, so things have changes.
I did not like the footie pajamas with plastic feet. maybe...I hope..they don't make them that way any more. IMO they kept the kids feet hot and sweaty, so I cut them off. I tended to cut the footies off tho..I like to sleep with my feet out...I guess you progect some of your likes and dislikes on your kids ;) I rememver getting the Dreft and Ivory snow with my first child..I don't think it even entered my mind for the second. I don't use detergent with bleach because it makes my husband break out :p:

You may want to pick out some particularly nice outfits to save to have pictures taken in and save the outfits. Nice family heirloom to hand down, the baby pic with the dress/suit the baby was in. I have several for each girl stuffed away in my cedar chest.

Those bundle bags are great! Didn't have one for my boys when we lived ont the West coast, but got one for my daughter (lived in Alberta by then.) Absolutely perfect for cold winter days! Didn't have to worry about putting her in a snowsuit...just warm clothes and then into the carseat. The bundle bag was made with fleece interior, warm polyfill inside and then a thick cordouroy outer. The cover zipped up on the sides, and could velcro at the top...over her face to protect her from the cold and wind when going to/from the car. When inside the cover could zip off completely so she wouldn't overheat.

I also had a special fleece cover to go over our baby carrier (Baby Bjorn) to keep baby toasty on walks...it also works over the carseat and on a stroller. For an actual snowsuit, I used a super thick fleece suit from Mountain Equipment Coop
 
After having two boys, my little girl is getting dressed up alot. She's always got a bow in her hair. Anyway, as far as practicality for either sex, I loved sleep and plays. The little one piece outfits with long sleeves and feet but they're made out of light cotton material.
 
Nursie - Yea, I don't think they make the plastic footie ones anymore... the ones that we used to have GREAT fun running and slip-sliding on the linoleum floors, crashing into Mom's kitchen cabinets until we got sent to our rooms... The ones I got for my kids had cloth feet with little rubber dots for traction. No slip-sliding in those things! And they're so breathable, I'd put socks on them under the jammies! Their feet were always cold without them!

As far as outfit changing goes, both my girls had reflux, so for the first few months, they were going through 6 or 7 or more outfits a day. Between spitup and those infamous diaper blowouts... I sure wished I had two washers and two dryers! ;)

And, SumthinFishy, I bet you would be fetching in some nice Royal Blue footies! Please DO post a picture of that!!

:OT: Aknif, about the footed jammies vs. attractiveness, it depends whether you pick the lace version(not practical) :o or terry version(not attractive). :eek: :thud:
 
Hhhhmmm... Good idea, FF. Perhaps I need to find a middle ground here. The options are: 1) The Terry version with a lace overlay or 2) The Lace version coupled with a large blanket...

There's a 3rd option... but I ain't putting it in print! :laugh:
 
I didn't read through all the comments, so sorry if I repeat anything.

You'll need lots of clothes, especially once the baby starts spitting up, and eating cereal/jar food. Bibs are great, use them. I kept my kids in bibs almost all the time until they stopped drooling from teething and spitting up.

Always be sure to take two or three extra changes of clothes and bibs with you where ever you go. Trust me! I always got mad at myself for forgetting that stuff. And be sure you take an extra blanket or warm clothes incase it gets surprisingly chilly. Remember, babies are in a warm body for several months. They're used to the warmth. So keeping them swaddled at first is comforting for them.

Two piece sweat-style suits over a onsie are great. That way, when it comes to changing, all you have to do is remove the bottom and unsnap the onsie. Also, my kids wore the sleepers around the house a lot, especially in the winter.

Your diaper bag should become your new purse. I basically carried my wallet and any other important things in my diaper bags. It was strange when I finally went back to a purse. I didn't know what to keep in it anymore since the kids are through with diapers. So I have a wallet in it. That's about it.

Oh! Always be sure you have some band-aids in your purse/diaper bag too. You never know when you'll suddenly need one.

I finally organized all the clothes today... I think I have way too much for 0-3 months. I've been warned that depending on how big they are, they might not even fit in that size long anyway. I just counted my sleeper things (bags, open at bottom and legs with feet) and I have 15 :eek: !! This does not include the 5 that are one size/up to 25lbs. Most of them are pretty thin, since he won't be moving around too much, should I just keep them and have him wear those around the house as opposed to onesies?
