Baby Fish?

you can get an airline. put your thumb to cover the end and put the other end over the fry. as you take your thumb off the top...it should suck up the fish. then put your thumb back on to hold him up in there.

works for me. the deeper the water...the more water that gets sucked up.

good luck!

Hi,

I'm just a newbie here myself, but I recently had a bunch of unexpected mollie fry (still have about ten out of the original twenty or so). I asked and was told to try a turkey baster to catch the fry. The type of baster that is like a giant syringe, with a bulb at the top. Although all of my fry end up in the overflow box so they were rather easy to catch in such a small area (yes, I now have net around the weir). I bought a breeder net box which hangs inside the main tank, slurped up the fry and put them in the net. I crushed flakes and freeze dried blood worms which the fry loved. Once they got bigger than the adult fish's mouths, I let them free in the main tank. As the forum members will tell you, the fry need hiding places, such as lots of plants.

Good luck, they are fun to watch grow.

175 gallon with two panda cories (plan to get more soon), three black baloon mollies, two sunset platies, two orange wag tail platies, about ten black fry, and room for more fish

5.5 is fine as long only the fry are going in there. Just make sure its cycled had good filtration, and heated. Water changes more often will help keep the tank in check also. I had about 100 convict fry in a 10 gallon with only a sponge filter I did water changes of 5 gallons every two days, didn't loose a one. But now as they are a little larger they are in a 29 gallon tall with some 1" HRP's. I'm loosing some fry to the HRP's but it was their tank first so I guess its just free food. I still have like 50.
