Hey guys,

So I had a japonica (amano) with what looked like fertilized eggs. I decided to move her to my 1-gal to see what happens and sure enough, today her eggs hatched! So I have a lot of microscopic shrimp running around. I read up on raising shrimp and did add some salt to the water, since I know they are used to be washed out to brackish water. I also pulled mama out and put her in one of my other tanks. I didn't have any green water available to feed them (I know, poor planning on my part), but I did take a mortar and pestle to some freeze-dried blood worms and fed them that. I have no idea if that was the right thing to do, however. Will they live long enough for me to even prepare some green water (and what do I do, just leave a small container of water in the sun? Can I seed it with something?)

In the tank they have a little bit of gravel and a bubble wand set on low.

I would love if someone could advise what to do next. I'm going to be in California tomorrow and Friday, but I'm passing explicit instructions on to my significant other, which I know he'll follow to the letter. I'm just not sure what those instructions should be. Thanks kindly.

Thanks for your help!

I found this to be a quite detailed list of instructions (day by day even!) for raising amano shrimp. Even the author admits that not every attempt will be successful, but he has used these methods with a good degree of success.
