Baby jelly fish in my tank!!!

but of what hydroid species... as far as I know, none of the commecially avalible polyp species take a form like that.

All hydrozoa have a form like that, its part of their life cycle. They are sold in the aquarium hobby occasionally as 'fire corals'. They typically arent sold very often, the only two familys I can think of off the top of my head are milleporidae and stylasteridae

^^Those are hydroids technically, but they are more often referred to as hydrocorals, having the unusual capability to calcify. The most likely event is that the OP managed to get in a small colony on the live rock, which isn't uncommon. You just don't see them budding off medusae incredibly often. But yes, all hydrozoans have this cycle.

sorry, I got hydroids confused with zoos, with are anthozoids XP

Allow me to say one more time how glad I am you're back. I love these kinds of posts from you as I always learn so much.

I know.. I am of the same mind.. There are several people that I learn from on this board and Amp is one of them.

Ah man. Well he will always be known as the jelly who jiggled his way into my tank one day to me. = )

im with mcsassy. ITS A JELLY FOOLS!!! lol. that stinks, but hey you never know.....it still could be a jelly. only time will tell. if it dies you must do an autopsy! only then will we know the truth lol

hey I would try and keep it in like a small container or sumthin. like use a small cylindrical glass container like a jar. fill it with water and add like an airline tubing to it and c what happens. Or try making your own in-tank container by using one of those fine meshes and some plastic parts to make it a cylindrical shape. I think that this will allow water movement throught the container. but I dunno im still a noob when it comes to saltwater reef keeping so. Im just saying ideas
